Meeting Uma Thurman for the first time was a bit nerve-wracking, I must admit. This whole process is so exciting from beginning to finish that there’s nothing to pinpoint, I just want to take everything I can, every experience, every learning opportunity out of this, and grow as a director. Trigger Street Productions nurtured our talents and gave us confidence in ourselves and the project. They believed enough in me to give me a shot. Now I have to show them, and the world, that their belief was not misplaced.
Uma Thurman, she’s just somebody I make a point of going and seeing. It was about taking that leap of faith and trying it and not worrying about what the outcomes are going to be. I’m very, very grateful, this is my first time and you only get to experience that once. It’s something that I’ll always remember. Jameson First Shot gives you real experience in filmmaking. It doesn’t matter who you are — if your story is good enough, you can become the director of your own movie starring one of the best actors in the world.
It’s more than I could have hoped for, especially on my first time out! I always planned that when it was my chance to write and direct I would try my best to make a film that meant something and left people walking away still thinking about it long after it was over. I wanted to write something inspirational and touching. Whimsical but also real. I really feel I was able to accomplish what I set out to on this piece. It’s a great start, but of course, I still have a lot of work ahead of me...
